Christopher Ryan

Born in St Petersburg, Florida, Christopher Ryan attended the University of Florida, where he received bachelor’s degrees in anthropology and in women’s studies and gender research. Following graduation, he worked for a research-based plant-breeding program, which led him to completing a master’s degree in environmental horticulture. With a desire to combine both the physical and social sciences, he moved to New York City to begin a PhD in earth and environmental sciences at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY). His current academic work focuses on changes to biogeochemical systems through anthropogenic influence with particular focus on the nitrogen cycle.
