Beatriz Fernández

Beatriz Fernández is an assistant professor at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris, and a member of the Géographie‑cités research unit (UMR CNRS 8504). She trained as an architect and urban planner before entering academia. Her research focuses on the territorial transformations of contemporary metropolitan areas, through comparative and diachronic approaches. She is particularly interested in the effects of metropolization on metropolitan cores, and the sociospatial impacts of urban policy and planning. She is the coordinator of the ANR (French National Research Agency) project “JCJC ENVERSMET” (2024–2027).
