Frédérique Cornuau is assistant professor in demography at the University of Lille‑1 Sciences & Technologies and a member of the research unit Clersé (Centre Lillois d’Études et de Recherches Sociologiques et Économiques – Lille Centre for Sociological and Economic Studies and Research; UMR CNRS 8019). Her research lies in the field of demographic economics. Following work on the demographics of companies and institutions (analysing the renewal of the productive fabric), her research now focuses on the interactions between demography and economics. She is currently conducting a study into the balancing of the labour market, and a cross-comparison analysis of population changes and economic variables in the context of urban shrinkage. Her work incorporates reflection on the use of data sources (administrative data sources, in particular) for research purposes.
