Claire Carriou

Claire Carriou is a professor at the Paris School of Urban Planning (École d’Urbanisme de Paris, Université Paris-Est Créteil) and a researcher within the Lab’Urba research unit (Université Paris-Est Créteil, Université Gustave-Eiffel).

As an urban planner and historian, she conducts research relating primarily to the production of housing and living environments, and more specifically the ways in which these spaces are connected to wider urban issues. Her work focuses on the processes involved in developing public action on housing, particularly from a long-term perspective, as well as on institutional and professional approaches to experimentation in the field of housing. Her research also examines alternatives initiated or supported by residents to facilitate their access to, or continued occupation of, housing. Her work has been published in a number of texts, book chapters, and articles, notably in journals such as Housing Theory and Society, Espaces et Sociétés, Genèses, Lien social et politiques, Socio-anthropologie, and the Revue française des affaires sociales, Revue internationale d’urbanisme (RIURBA).
