Céline Barrère

Céline Barrère is an assistant lecturer in sociology and anthropology at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture et de Paysage de Lille and a researcher at the mixed research unit LAVUE (Laboratoire Architecture, Ville, Urbanisme – “Laboratory for Architecture, the City and Urban Planning”; UMR 7218). She holds a PhD in urban planning. Her research focuses on the ways in which narratives are created around the city, and by extension the representations of built-up spaces and the social and identity-based practices that are attached to these spaces. Other research interests include conflicts of memory and the stakeholders of urban heritage in Europe. With Claire Lévy-Vroelant, she has published Hôtels meublés à Paris. Enquête sur une mémoire de l’immigration (Créaphis, 2012).
