Olivier Thomas is an associate member of the mixed research unit UMR 6590, “Espaces et Sociétés” (“Spaces and Societies”), affiliated to the CNRS (French National Centre for Scientific Research). His research is in the field of social geography, and his work concerns the social condition of marginalised populations. In 2011, he defended his PhD thesis (on the condition of “clandestine” migrants in Cherbourg and the surrounding coast), Des émigrants dans le passage. Une approche géographique de la condition de « clandestin » à Cherbourg et sur les côtes de la Manche.
