Nicolas Renahy is research director at the Centre d’Économie et de Sociologie Rurales Appliquées à l’Agriculture et aux Espaces Ruraux (CESAER – Centre for Economics and Sociology Applied to Agriculture and Rural Spaces), part of the Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique (INRA – French National Institute for Agricultural Research) in Dijon. His research concerns the working classes, and more specifically the mechanisms that govern and structure this group and the phenomena of local belonging among its members. His publications include Les Gars du coin. Enquête sur une jeunesse rurale (La Découverte, 2005). He also recently co-edited the dossier titled “Différencier les enfants” (in Politix, no. 99, 2012, with Wilfried Lignier and Cédric Lomba) and, with Sébastien Mary, published the article “‘La soif du travail ?’ Alcool, salariat et masculinité dans le bâtiment : le témoignage d’un adepte du ‘black’” (in Agone, no. 51, 2013).
