Magda Maaoui

Magda Maaoui is a PhD candidate in urban planning at Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP), and is affiliated with the Université de Paris (formerly Université Paris‑7 Diderot). Her research lies at the nexus of housing policy, urban history, neighborhood change and spatial justice. Her current project is a political economy evaluation and comparison of inclusionary zoning programs in American and French metropolitan areas, in terms of how they perpetuate—even exacerbate—existing logics of exclusion and segregation. With a global academic and professional experience acquired in Europe, Africa, and the Americas, the projects she has worked on range from sustainable policy to education and neighborhood planning.
