Nichola Lowe

Nichola Lowe is professor of city and regional planning at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her work focuses on the institutional arrangements that lead to more inclusive forms of economic development and, specifically, the role that practitioners can play in aligning growth and equity goals through their engagement with private business. Her book, Putting Skill to Work: How to Create Good Jobs in Uncertain Times (MIT Press, 2021), examines how workforce institutions engage ambiguities around skill to extend economic opportunity to frontline manufacturing workers.
