Leïla Vignal is an assistant professor in geography at Rennes‑2 University. Her research focuses on the Middle East, and more specifically on cities and urban societies with respect to globalization, on transnational networks and flows, and on the spatial and social transformations linked to conflicts (and the Syrian conflict in particular).
She recently edited the collective work The Transnational Middle East. Places, People, Borders (Abingdon/New York: Routledge, 2017). She is also a member of the editorial committee of the journal Égypte/Monde Arabe.
