Patrice Lanco is an honorary Public Works General Inspector. A graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique and an economist, he worked for 25 years in the area of housing, at the Plan Committee [Commissariat au Plan] where he served as a rapporteur on several commissions, in the cabinet of the minister Louis Besson, then as a senior official in the Department of Housing. He was notably responsible for coordinating the housing section of the SRU and “Local liberties and responsibilities”laws, and for the setting up of the first jurisdiction delegation procedures. He is now retired, but conducted national-wide round table discussions on housing which took place on May 4th 2010. The views expressed here are strictly his own.
