Catherine Fournet-Guérin holds a PhD in geography and is a graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure (ENS) in Paris. She lectures in geography at the Université de Reims Champagne-Ardenne where, following the successful defence of her habilitation thesis, she also supervises research within the Habiter research unit. Catherine is also a member of the Espaces, Nature et Culture (“Spaces, Nature and Culture”) mixed research unit (UMR 8184) and her work focuses on two key themes: cities in Africa, particularly in Madagascar (Antananarivo) and East Africa; and contemporary urban dynamics, cultural and social changes under way, and the development of urban cosmopolitanism.
