Céline Drieskens

Céline Drieskens is a PhD researcher in the field of critical urban geography at the Cosmopolis Centre for Urban Research (Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium) and the OSA Architecture and Urbanism research group (KU Leuven, Belgium). Based on a critical understanding of both the “right to housing” and the notion of a “housing crisis,” her research further cements her dedication to housing justice. She concentrates her work on the various ways radical housing politics and urban housing movements function in, against, and beyond the state and capital in their claim for a right to housing and a broader right to the city. Her personal lived experiences and active involvement in various housing collectives in Brussels support an engaged ethnographic action-research approach, enabling her to foreground local specificity and uphold reciprocity.
