Alissa Cordner is Assistant Professor of Sociology at Whitman College. She studies environmental sociology, risk and disasters, and the sociology of science and knowledge, and is the author of Toxic Safety: Flame Retardants, Chemical Controversies, and Environmental Health (2016, New York: Columbia University Press) and co-author of the 2014 political ethnography The Civic Imagination: Making a Difference in American Political Life (Boulder: Paradigm Publishers).
