Anne Clerval is a lecturer in geography at the Université Paris-Est Marne-la-Vallée and a member of the research unit ACP (Analyse comparée des pouvoirs – “Comparative Analysis of Powers”). She is the author of Paris sans le peuple. La gentrification de la capitale (La Découverte, 2013). Her research concerns on the spatial dynamics of gentrification in the Paris region, the role played by public policy in this process, and the relationships of power at work in gentrifying neighbourhoods. She coordinates the Habest project (“Habiter l’est parisien d’hier à aujourd’hui” – “Living in Eastern Paris from Past to Present”), which focuses in particular on the socio-spatial transformations affecting the east of the Paris metropolitan area.
