Jean Samuel Bordreuil

Samuel Bordreuil is a research director at the CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique – French National Scientific Research Center) and is currently also the director of LAMES (Laboratoire Méditerranéen de Sociologie – Mediterranean Sociology Laboratory) at the MMSH (Maison Méditerranéenne des Sciences de l’Homme – Mediterranean Human Sciences Center) in Aix-en-Provence. He has carried out a number of research projects in the field of urban sociology, in particular regarding urban sprawl and the issue of public spaces in these areas. More recently, he has diversified his scope of investigation to analyze other spaces and other forms of deployment of populations in society. This involves working on the construction of artistic as well as political populations, with particular attention paid to potential generators of new information and communication technologies. He is currently finishing a research project in collaboration with Anne Lovell on the populations of the post-Katrina reconstruction in New Orleans.
