Vincent Béal

Vincent Béal is an assistant professor in sociology at the University of Strasbourg, and a researcher within the SAGE (Sociétés, Acteurs, Gouvernement en Europe – Societies, Actors and Government in Europe) mixed research unit (UMR CNRS 7363). His research focuses on urban policy, city government, and the relations between different tiers of government. He is currently the coordinator of Altergrowth, an ANR (French National Research Agency) project that examines the challenges of shrinking cities – and responses to these challenges – from a comparative standpoint.

His work has been published in numerous journals, including Sociologie du Travail, Sociétés Contemporaines, Environment and Planning A and the International Journal of Urban and Regional Research.
