Ahmed Allahwala

Ahmed Allahwala is a faculty member in city studies in the Department of Human Geography at the University of Toronto Scarborough. His work focuses on urban social policy, social infrastructure, and planning in the context of contemporary state and economic restructuring in North America and Western Europe. In his research and teaching practice, Ahmed centers community-engaged approaches and participatory methods, linking academic knowledge production with social action and public scholarship. During the 2023/2024 academic year, Ahmed is a visiting scholar at the Center for Metropolitan Studies (Technical University Berlin) researching urban beaches and public pools as contested social infrastructure.
