Michel Agier

Michel Agier is a researcher at the IRD (Institut de recherche pour le développement – Development Research Institute) and director of studies at the EHESS (École des hautes études en sciences sociales – School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences) in France. Over the past several years, his research has focused on refugees and migrants around the world and on social and cultural life on the urban fringe. Agier’s most recently published books are Gérer les indésirables. Des camps de réfugiés au gouvernement humanitaire (Flammarion, 2008) and Esquisses d’une anthropologie de la ville. Lieux, situations, mouvements (Academia Bruylant, 2009).
